Ignite's Carbon Accounting module has some nifty features:

  1. Emission Tracking: It helps you keep tabs on how much your company is emitting each year and breaks it down by category.

  2. Enhanced Accuracy: You can make your emission estimates more accurate by adding data about your activities and suppliers.

  3. No Double-Counting: It's smart enough to avoid counting emissions twice by letting you overwrite spend-based estimates.

💡Interested in the methodology used to calculate what you see in this module? That can be found here!

Navigation

To use the module, just click on “Carbon accounting” in the side bar on the left. In the module, you’ll get a snapshot of your emissions, including the types and trends. You can also choose which year and scope you want to see.

And if you want to add more emissions data, you can either connect it to your spending info or manually add activities related to emissions. Easy peasy!

What can I see in the Overview?

The emissions overview gives you a quick look at your yearly scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, distribution of emissions per scope, top suppliers ranked by amount of emissions, emissions per spend, and allows you to see the year-to-year change per scope.

Use the year drop-down to see the total emissions for a given year. There is a lot of different functionality in this overview that can be explored, check this article out if you want to learn more!

You can also export the data by clicking on Download down at the Emissions per year table.

Why is my emissions table empty?

If you do not have any data in the Emissions overview, you likely have not set up Carbon Accounting yet. Please contact your Customer Success manager for more information.

How have my emissions been calculated?

In most cases, your emissions will have been calculated using a Spend-based methodology. This process differs based on whether you have transactional data or supplier-based data in Ignite.

You can find more details in the help center for the Carbon Accounting Module.

How can I add Activity Data, Tags, and Categories?

In Ignite, you can easily add your emissions activities by clicking +Add activity in the top right of the overview. You can also view all activities by clicking View all to the right of the Recently added activities table. Doing so will bring you to the Activity Log.

Each emission category has their own set of activities, as well as regional estimates depending on supplier country and region - but adding any activity should be simple!

💡 Tip: Adding activity data allows you to enter an estimate based on region/supplier industry, or you can add direct emissions reported from your suppliers in tCO₂e!

Add Tags or Custom categories

If you want to create tags or custom categories to be used in your activites, you will first need to access Settings in the top right of the overview.

Once in the settings page, you can access the tags and categories tabs.

Tags

Tags can be created either based on already existing values in your data, or custom values. To create them, click the + icon as shown below.

Custom categories

In the custom categories tab you can add new categories by clicking the button shown below.

Where can I see added Activities?

In the Activity Log - you can see all added activities in Ignite's emissions module.

Use the Search and Filter functions to find specific emissions or activities.

You can also click on the icon over to the right to open up the activity for more details, as well as attach Files or add Notes.

How can I make changes to Activities?

If you want to make changes to an Activity, you can click on the open activity icon to the right of an activity in the Activity Log to make changes. Remember to scroll down and click Confirm and update activity once you are happy with the changes.

Note: You have to be logged in to the Ignite platform to view most of the other articles
